More factors support price increase in European stainless steel flats market

The European stainless steel market picture will remain complex in 2024. However, the pricing landscape has chances to improve amid the emergence of new driving forces, especially for flat products.
SMR has analyzed the main factors determining the trajectory of stainless steel prices in the coming months. More factors suggest that European producers' recently started price increase campaign could bring more success than previously and has the potential to last. The major downside remains the real demand, limiting the gains.

The European mills are quoting about EUR 2,600/t for 304 2B cold-rolled coils with May deliveries for distributors. Contract prices are still at least EUR 50/t lower.
