German stainless steel market: Is the worst behind us?

After one of the most complicated years ever, Germany remains a difficult place for the stainless business. However, industry players, wounded but not defeated, are searching for positive signs.
At the Edelstahl Rostfrei Convent organized by Verlag Focus Rostfrei, attended by SMR Managing Director Markus Moll this week, the overarching message conveyed was one of resilience despite persistent challenges. The demand for stainless steel from end users will remain a weak point in 2024. However, with lower stocks and stronger purchasing power amid reduced inflation and interest rates as well as stainless steel price stabilization, the industry participants start to express hope for 2024 to become a starting point of recovery.
