Outokumpu appoints Matthieu Jehl to head Europe business
Outokumpu has appointed Matthieu Jehl as president of its newly created Europe business area, effective August 1, as part of a reorganisation supporting the next phase of its EVOLVE strategy.
Jehl, who joined the company's leadership team in 2025, most recently served as president of Stainless Europe and will continue as a member of the leadership team.
Before joining Outokumpu, Jehl had spent more than two decades in the European steel industry. He was CEO of ArcelorMittal France and previously led the group's operations in Italy, Belgium and Germany. He also served as executive president of the Energy division at Belgium's John Cockerill. Earlier in his career, he held a number of management roles in strategy, business development and stainless steel operations within ArcelorMittal.
Outokumpu's reorganisation combines the Stainless Europe and Advanced Materials business lines under a single Europe business area, while retaining two dedicated commercial organisations. According to the company, the new structure is designed to strengthen customer focus, improve strategic alignment and support more effective execution of growth initiatives. It is also expected to increase efficiency through organisational synergies while accelerating the expansion of the Advanced Materials business, particularly in high-nickel alloys.
As part of the changes, Rolf Schencking, president of the Advanced Materials business line and a member of the leadership team, has left the company to pursue opportunities outside Outokumpu.
"With extensive experience across the steel industry, Matthieu combines a deep understanding of market dynamics, a strong strategic perspective and a relentless focus on operational excellence," Kati ter Horst, CEO of Outokumpu, said. "His leadership will be key to advancing business area Europe's competitiveness and supporting the execution of our EVOLVE strategy."
